Steven Marking has performed more than 40 operatic and musical theater roles, as well as major Oratorio roles for symphonies and choral societies.
Steven’s magnificent voice and charismatic style endear him to all audiences. He is comfortable singing in English, French, German, Italian, or Latin. A multi-talented and motivated performer, Marking’s professional experience includes conducting, stage directing, producing, photography, video production and lighting design.
Steven teaches private voice lessons and group sessions, giving vocal workshops to choirs in schools, churches, and communities, and he teaches his Voice and Musicianship classes to singers of all ages.
He produces solo recitals including his multimedia shows My Mighty Mississippi and I’ve Known Rivers, his Tribute to Frank Sinatra, his American Art Songs featuring the music of Lee Hoiby and Charles Ives, his italian song program Toscanini and Friends, his in-school assembly America We Sing to Thee. He is a regular performer on board the new luxury boat, The Queen of the Mississippi
He has sung and worshiped with churches of most christian denominations and recorded three religious CD’s. He is currently the bass soloist and section leader at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church in Minneapolis.
Steve is a passionate photographer and videographer of all things on the Mississippi River and its backwaters and tributaries. His DVDs My Mighty Mississippi and Riverscapes feature his photos and video.
